Moral of the story is DONT AIM FOR A MOUNTAIN! 1 test, hit a mountain and rolled all the way down, lost 2 hatch ramps and 1 passenger, still had all important components still managed to stand upright and majority of crew survived. 6 Tests successful with lots of damage but none to important comonents, hatch ramps take most of the damage. After collision and rolling around for a bit, hit the reverse ramps button and the pod should right itself and everyone can disembark FLY DIRECTLY AT PLANET -> ENSURE BASE AND LANDING GEAR ARE POINTING AT GROUND -> BRACE. However you will need to add the extra materials needed to do so in the container. It is the quickest possible method of landing on a planet (and surviving) with enough resources to establish a basic base of operations. It can survive impacts onto a planet or asteroid while travelling at 104.4m/s (Max vanilla speed). Then I decided that while I was doing this, I might as well build. As I had one unbuilt drop pod in my pile of kits, I decided to buy a second one and converted them both to Deathstorm pods. It also needed to be as small as possible to be stored and launched from another ship. Deathstorm Drop Pod - posted in Modelling Tutorials: For an upcoming tournament which reportedly will have plenty of horde armies, I wanted to include some Deathstorm drop pods in my list. This craft is designed to be as lightweight resources-wise as possible. If you want to repaint it in Space Marine Chapter colours then be my guest :) This design was basically thrown together so dont expect perfection but it is great fun to use and play with.Īnd yes it is inspired by Games Workshops Warhammer 40k Space Marines all credit where due, but dont ask me to try and fit a dreadnaught in there. This is a drop pod designed to be launched from a large orbital craft directly to the planet's surface. A simple wash with soap and warm water ( of course theres more to getting resin prepared to work with ) and theres no problem at all getting the spray paint to adhere and leave a nice, smooth coat to work with.
Scarcely have the smouldering hulls come to rest when their hatches blow clear, and the occupants disembark to wreak havoc on wrong-footed enemies. Drop Pod assaults are the ultimate weapon of terror and surprise, aimed right at the heart of the foe. The Space Marines are known as the Angels of Death, and the title is never more appropriate than when they attack using Drop Pods.
